Introduction[]

Since I'm returning to making huge blogs regarding a verse's cosmology and are debunking misconceptions about a verse. I thought it was about time i did one pertaining to The Marioverse and explaining the sheer size of it's comsology whilst refuting misconceptions that people have created either from misunderstandings or to simply downplay the entire Marioverse. Regardless, the purpose of this blog is explain just how big Mario's cosmology is relative to fiction and rebuttal infamous claims that supposedly makes the verse weak. It should be noted that alot of feats and stuff are spread apart across numerous mario games (I'll elaborate on that later) and that due to the nature of Mario's "continuity", alot of things can be used to deduce just how big of a verse Mario is

PJ-Gameplay-1

Mario's Continuity[]

So after that release of Paper Jam, there has been massive debaters whether Paper Mario and Mario are one in the same. In the game, the plot revolves around Paper Mario coming from his world to visit the "main universe". This essentially implies that there are two canons. HOWEVER, based on evidence, this is simply not true and in fact, it's proven that Mario and Paper Mario are one in the same.

If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon... They might be businessman in one or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games.
~ Shigeru Miyamoto

Based on official statements, even WOG confirms that Mario and Paper Mario are the same being. What Shigeru means is that he simply sees every "version" of Mario as nothing more than a role for Mario to play or essentially him changing up roles. This basically means that every "version" of Mario (From the games atleast) is well, Mario. Think of this way, imagine a move actor playing two parts are the same time. This is essentially what's happening here

More Solid Evidence That Paper Mario & Mario Are The Same []

Some people think that this is the only thing we have to go off of when it comes to Paper Mario and Mario being the same entity. Well guess what, there's more, way more evidence that exists that fundamentally prove that they are the same. Anyways, I'll present the evidence as we have alot of ground to cover when it comes to this topic

So with all that presented, It's safe to say that Paper Mario and Mario are one in the same. It would be quite a leap of faith to deny it at this point when so many instances instantly debunk that notion and throw it out of the window

Cosmology []

So, now that we've established that continuity in Mario is essentially a null concept, given that everything that happens is merely a role swap of the Mario Cast, we can assert the size of the cosmology based on this.

The Multiverse []

It's established that Mario does indeed run on the idea that Parallel Universes exist and are present in the verse, so right off the back, Mario does have a Multiverse. But, would you be shocked if i told you, Mario's multiverse is much, much bigger than simply multiple universes. In Mario, there exists "Worlds" of which are treated as universes and we can asssert this based on many things. World 5 was shown to have numerous galaxies contained within it andit's stated that when you traverse to another world ,it's actually traveling through Space and Time , implying these worlds are seperated by Space-Time Continuums (of which would easily prove they are Universes). This can also be further proven by the fact worlds can have countless stars contained inside them , of which is shown on many occainsions. As if this wasn't enough, the whole plot point of Super Paper Mario revolved around Worlds and even treated them as Parallel Universes. In the end, Worlds in Mario are entire universes.

How Many Worlds Are There []

In Super Paper Mario, we have ten worlds from Super Paper Mario, including Flipside and Flopside, which are parallel to one another, as well as the Underwhere and Overthere. Following those are Lineland, Gloam Valley, Bitlands, Outer Space, Land of the Cragnons and Sammer's Kingdom. Then we have Smithy's Dimension and Vanda, which are two more. Mario is also connected to our universe according to Mario is Missing, so our universe counts as well. In the original Luigi's Mansion, King Boo materialized a mansion out of nothing instantly. Said mansion contains a grand total of five completely separate universes. While the celestial objects may look small, the Marioverse does this overwhelmingly often. In Dark Moon, the Paranormal Dimension seems to be a type of small "multiverse" of sorts, with a few universe-sized zones. One being the Knightmare Zone, the ScareScraper Zone, as well as multiple mini-zones, including Coin Zone 1, Coin Zone 2,Coin Zone 3, Coin Zone 4, Snow Zone, Train Zone and King Boo's Illusion Zone, as well as a possible Reality Zone. All of the Mini-Zones have countless stars in the background, as does the ScareScraper and Reality Zone. The rest come to scale. Thus, that's 15 extra universes. In Mario Bros  1, 2, 3 & Lost Levels. We have 8 Worlds each game (In Lost Levels, 4 extra worlds). In Mario Galaxy, we have 7 Worlds.

Our Grand Total as of now is 80 Universes (As of now, there may be more worlds i haven't bothered to count, but this is the minimum). Nothing too special, but it gets crazier next section

Dreams/Dream Worlds[]

Dreams is a concept first introduced in Mario Bros 2, however they have since been expanded on in Mario Party 5 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Time.  It's shown that every time one goes to sleep, they indirectly conjure a dream , as evident by Luigi, who creates dreams every time he he sleeps within Dream Team. The citizens of Pi'illo have been dreaming for years and thus this results in a countless number of dreams that have been created over the course of years and possibly decades and it should be noted there are dozens of innumerable species on Pi'illo Isle, including Nommon, Hooskis, countless monsters, guardians such as Mammoshka and Zeekeeper, the Pi'illos, etc. The highest island population without random numbers above it is 10,000,000 considering The Dream Stone has existed for, at least, an entire era. (of which is 100,000,000 years ). It is shown that characters such as Big Massif, Dr. Snoozemore, Mammoshka and even random employees fall asleep numerous times a day due to Pi'illo Island's relation to sleep. We'll use a reasonable end and assume they all sleep thrice. We'll be using three instead of two because, as evidenced by Snoozemore, characters can even fall asleep tens of times each day. 3,652,500,000 x 21 = 76,702,500,000. And finally... 76,702,500,000 x 100,000,000 = 7,670,250,000,000,000,000 dreams/universes that are in the Dream Stone.

How Big Are Dreams/Dream Universes []

It's shown many times that Dreams are entire universes, Dreambert uses Mario's world as an example to mean universe, saying "It seems some evil has befallen the real world in my absence.". This is also further proven by the fact Dreams can contain entire constellations andeven countless starswhen he takes a huge leap into Space. If that wasn't enough, when Zeekeeper crosses over to another Dream, it's stated that he's crossing Dimensions by Dreambert andthey are even stated to be entire universes in Mario Party 5. Speaking of Mario Party 5, there exists a construct called The Dream Depot, where dreams arrive everyday and  and is the "real world of dreams," collecting everyone's dreams (All of this is stated in the manual. Pages 5 & 6 specifically). This basically confirms that all dreams in The Marioverse are collected here. Almost everything in Mario is sentient, To start, in Bowser's Inside Story, we are shown that every defensive mechanism in the Koopa anatomy is sentient, including brain cells and blood cells (the white masked characters are meant to represent white blood cells). Next up, we know that paint is a big part of the universe, at least in Paper Mario's case. It's what gives the world life, and the Black Paint the result of mixing the colors is entirely sentient. So, in a way every atom has a form of sentience. Enemies like Lava Bubbles are sentient, and Water Bombs follow you, so even liquids like lava--which is molten rock--and water seem to be sentient; this supports every atom having some sort of sentience. So, solids and liquids are sentient. Then there's Fire enemies, which is the state of matter known as "gas." Thus, all three primary states of matter are sentient. We can also prove the state of matter "plasma" is sentient via the Angry Sun. So this all makes sense, what with cells being sentient, all states of matter being sentient, and what with the universe itself technically being sentient; the latter Chakron actually confirms for us, too. This is extremely solid, and explains why just about everything in Mario has a face. The highest estimate for the amount of atoms in the observable universe is 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. This gives us a number that cannot be calculated. So yeah, an insane amount of universes within Mario  Credits to Metal875 for this too

Who Scales To This []

  • Super Dimentio: Was going to destroy all universes and all of existence. Then recreate it in his own image
  • Paper Mario: Defeated Super Dimentio through The Pure Hearts
  • Count Bleck: Was able to use The Void, of which would have destroyed all realms. Also opened up The Void with sheer power
  • Paper Luigi: Has access to The Pure Hearts and was used as an aspect of Dimentio, to channel power'
  • Zeekeeper: Aided in the defeat of Antasma when he was wielding the Dark Stone. Destroyed the barrier of Neo Bowser Castle which was powered by the Dream Stone.
  • Dream Bowser: Dreamy Bowser is powered by The Dream Stone and it acts as his Power Source.
  • Antasma: Antasma wields The Dark Stone. Which is the dark counterpart of The Dream Stone.

Conclusions[]

In conclusion, Mario's cosmology is stupidly huge. Essentially dreams are entire universes and not just humans dream, but literally everything that is alive dreams and as such, we got an insane number of universes that literally cannot be calculated. Furthermore, this makes Mario characters high-end 2-B, as they can effect a shitton of universes. Also to note, Paper Mario and Mario are one in the same, too much evidence proves this true and going against it would even be going up against WOG
