Introduction[]
It was on May 7th in which I made this blog in regards to Hololive's cosmology and honestly, looking back at it, I feel it's a bit barebones. So this is going to be a major improvement over the previous one, especially since there's a ton of information I missed or neglected to mention that actually creates a more accurate comsological blog for the verse. I will admit that it was partly because I rushed it but now that I have the time to make one, this one will have much more information and care attached to it
Like with the previous blog, I intend to cover basically everything from the nature of the verse to it's full scope. One surprising thing about Hololive's cosmology is that it's intricate and rather robust for what amounts to V-Tubers just streaming content for the masses. I find the dichotomy between the lore and the actual streamers themselves to be funny but that's neither here or there...Let's get into this shall we ?
The Real World[]
If there's one thing that should be noted is that The Virtual World where VTubers exist is actually not the entire cosmology but there's in fact many worlds that exist outside of The Virtual World itself. For example, Gawr Gura doesn't actually come from The Virtual World but is actually from our real universe where Earth resides but the standard Real World isn't even just our universe but it actually is akin to a multiverse. We know this as many V-Tubers come from different worlds from our own, with the most notable examples being Kiryu Coco, who originates from a world of dragons or how about Shirogane Noel coming from a more medieval world.
We can really go on but the general gist is that The Real World is basically everything that exists outside of The Virtual World. It in itself is akin to a multiverse that is composed of many dimensions, with many V-Tubers that we know coming from said worlds within that "real" multiverse. The biggest confirmation that "The Real World" is a separate place comes from Vestia Zeta's description, which actually confirms The Virtual World is a separate place vastly different from "The Real World"
The (Infinite) Multiverse[]
What's rather interesting is Hololive's multiverse is basically infinite and we know this because Amelia Watson outright confirms this after having traveled through time and yet also claims there are "infinite possibilities" that are made from small or major changes in the timeline, additionally we have things such Kiara's usual room, which is literally just a multiversal torture chamber that has infinite versions. So yeah, not only is The Real World pretty big but it's actually an infinite multiverse
The Virtual World (V-Tuber World)[]
This is considered the main setting of Hololive and is where a majority of the verse takes place. What we know about The Virtual World is it's basically just a "virtual" version of the actual world and essentially is meant to mirror the "real world". For example, we have locations like Japan and England that exist in this world and have many times where it's shown that The Virtual World is merely a digitalized version of our world. There are some differences, such as the sun being supposedly bigger (given it's as big as Sana) and the implication that Earth isn't in the Milky Way galaxy but another one altogether. Aside from some minor differences, The Virtual World's universe is meant to be a mirror of the real one
This situation means that The Virtual World is equal in size to The Real World and given how many things present in The Real World are used interchangeably with their counterparts in the Real World once more implies that there is no fundamental difference between the two aside one being composed of matter and the other being a place where one has a non-corporeal exist
Higher Dimensions[]
I've touched upon this concept in this blog but it's worth giving this part it's own section. If you aren't aware, the idea of higher dimensions exist in Hololive. The first ever instance of them being mentioned was the Interstellar stream where Sana and Kronii watched the movie Interstellar. In the same stream, she talks about the concept of higher dimensions as it pertains to the themes of the movie (for those who haven't watched the movie, it's touches on the concept of 5th dimensional space and time travel). What she says tells us that Hololive has even more dimensions than just 5, with the amount being as many as 10 dimensions
The interesting thins is that even 10 dimensions isn't the upper limit of Hololive's multiverse, as we know thanks to Sana that the verse contains an infinite number of higher dimensions. Why you may be asking ? Well, going back to the blog I made in regards to this, Sana is the concept of dimensionality and physics, with the concept of Space being infinite. So since "Space" is an infinite concept, this means that there's infinite higher dimensions. Considering the explicit allusions to Carl Jung that Hololive has in a cosmological sense, this would basically reinforce this as Carl Jung believed in the concept of infinite higher dimensions as well
Oh and before I get comments about how "but Sana mentioned string theory, meaning dimensions are compacted". This clearly isn't the case considering that Kronii physically traveled to the 5th Dimension, which she'd be unable to do if it compacted into plank lengths. Given what we know of dimensions in Hololive, while it might not be 1:1, it's mostly accurate to how dimensions are and thus there shouldn't be any reasons they aren't treated as ontologically superior to lower dimensions in the verse.
The Underworld[]
This is the section that made me want to remake the blog, as there's a ton of information here that I missed out on. That being said, The Underworld is a rather interesting location because a significant amount of V-Tubers actually originate from it and it's the central focus of a ton of narratives. So with that being said, we know it's where demons reside but also is the place that houses the realm of the dead, where souls pass on through the river Styx guiding said lost souls on the right path, which is something we know for a fact is true considering the existence of The Grim Reaper and Mori Calliope, who's whole job is reaping and guiding souls to the underworld
What's rather interesting is in Hololive, The Underworld, The Afterlife and Hell are all basically the same place but just different names for the same location. So this means that every afterlife or whatnot that exists in Hololive is just another way to describe The Underworld. It should be noted that everything that exists there is undead as one doesn't truly die until their soul departs to The Underworld and goes through The River Styx. A support to this is Ollie, who underwent a fatal event and WAS going to go into The Underworld to pass on, yet didn't and thus wasn't fully dead, bringing her back as a Zombie. In other words, The Underworld is the place where all things go to pass and also is the home of demons, undead and various other creatures typically associated with any after death location such as Hell or The Afterlife.
Another piece of lore that is worth noting about The Underworld is how in Hololive, the planet we call Pluto isn't actually a planet. Well, even in reality it isn't a planet but Hololive takes a step further and states that it's actually a direct entrance to Hell and that it's so big that it intersects multiple dimensions to give the idea that there's multiple underworlds. Just entering Pluto is hard to do with having about as much energy as the sun covering yourself, which in itself implies that those who can survive in The Underworld can tank this much energy constantly as well
The Dream World[]
Not much is known about this place but we do know one exists thanks to Belmond Banders description. Based on his description, The Dream World is a world that is formulated of people's dreams and was first created when creatures began to the first dream. What this means is that every dream takes place within this world and also this means that dreams in Hololive aren't illusionary but are concrete things that occur.
Based on Holo no Graffiti, this world can seemingly grant any desires a person has and even replicate locations that exist within the real world or even virtual worlds. So what this means for The Dream World's size is unknown but it should at least suggest it's the size of our universe, if not likely much larger given that any location can be thought of in dreams and replicated in that same dream
Considering the existence of Carl Jung though, it's likely The Dream World is just another aspect of The Collective Unconsciousness considering that he was a firm believer that dreams were just merely windows into what The Collective Unconsciousness held inside and that dreaming in itself was the byproduct of the unconscious psyche. With that in mind, this still doesn't mean that The Dream World has a "tier" specific to it but more so that it's just another aspect of the Collective Unconsciousness and thus likely has the potential to reach it in scope and size
Heaven[]
Heaven is a very interesting realm given how little we know about it. Given how much Hololive pulls from actual biblical text, it's safe to say that Hololive's interpretation of Heaven is very similar to how it actually is in The Bible, which is even supported by the confirmation that Heaven has many different layers or "heavens" as it goes. This is the place where angels reside, with the most notable one being Amane Kanata, who's actually an Angel in training. It's unknown what Heaven looks like but we do know The Angels have entire academies there, which suggests Angels do have things like structures and the likes akin to how humans have towns and buildings
We aren't finished here as the implication that Heaven is like biblical heaven {well more like Abrahamic religions because whether The Bible had actual seven heavens is contentious} also means that Heaven is separated into seven different layers.
- The First Heaven (Vilon): The closest of heavenly realms to the Earth and is where Adam and Eve resides. It's where the atmosphere, minor stars, snow and dew resides. It's often called a "curtain" or "veil" because it veils or hides the other six levels
- The Second Heaven (Raqia): The frozen canopy over the earth before the Flood and also refers to the dwelling place of souls awaiting judgment. This is where the sun and moon reside
- The Third Heaven (Shehaquim): This is where the manna is made for the pious in the hereafter.
- The Fourth Heaven (Maon): This is where Sun, Moon, planets and stars have their origin, is the Celestial Temple in the Heavenly Jerusalem
- The Fifth Heaven (Makon): Where the seeds of the seventh Heaven begin to develop and separate from the Divine. This Heaven is also named the place of the Barakhah, or Blessing, and the celestial zone wherein the Love of Creation dwells.
- The Sixth Heaven (Zebul): Sometimes called the Palace of Will, the sixth Heaven is where the Providence of God is supervised by the HOSTS of Heaven
- The Seventh Heaven (Araboth): It is also the storehouse of life, peace and blessings. It is from here, moreover, that the generations of spirits are created and return in their purest state after their descent into the imperfect Worlds below.
So yeah, Hololive basically has seven heavens that have different purposes for each. I'm honestly not sure how it plays into Hololive's cosmology aside from the fact that Kami would be the highest heaven but we do at least know this is the basis for the Seven Heavens in which Hololive incorporates into the verse.
The funny thing about this is you can also potentially argue that the incorporation of the seven heavens also likely proves that The Sefirot Tree of Life exists in the verse and you can even further support this with the existence of Mio's Tarot Gods (and the power they have in-universe) or the fact that Carl Jung heavily incorporated these symbols and elements into his beliefs but it's a bit shaky to be frank
The Realm of The Gods (The Collective Unconsciousness)[]
We've arrived as the cosmic aspects of Hololive's cosmology, which is The Realm of The Gods, the apex of the multiverse and is where all the gods reside. According to Kronii, The Realm of The Gods is just merely a white void of nothingness and exists outside "mortal realm", which is in reference to the multiverse and it's lower extensions. Everything that exists in this world are basically purely ideas and abstractions, with The Council's true forms being nothing more than fundamental concepts that stabilize the multiverse and everything that exists and this is supported by the fact The Council having to manifest bodies to interact with the multiverse
Another thing that's interesting is when IRyS was casted down from this realm, she is described to have "descended", which also further points to the idea that this realm is meant to exist above and beyond everything else in the verse. The difference between The Realm of The Gods is so vast that nothing in the "Mortal World" (which we know refers to the multiverse) can reach it and thus this heavily implies that The Realm of The Gods at it's lowest level is beyond countable infinity (which would correlate to Low 1-A on our wiki)
Bare in mind, this isn't the full scope of The Realm of The Gods as beyond even that on a much deeper level is The Collective Unconsciousness, a metaphysical realm that originally was an idea proposed by Carl Jung to indicate that all consciousness was shared and influenced by both instincts and archetypes. Given that we have evidence that The Collective Unconsciousness exists within the context of Hololive and is 1:1 with it's real life counterpart, this opens the door for wider implications, moreover that The Council and those comparable exist as archetypes, with the "selves" we know them as being manifestations of these archetypes
Combine this with the fact that Archetypes within the context of Carl Jung's own beliefs were just merely modern versions of Plato's idea of "Forms" and you would be able to conclude that The Collective Unconsciousness supersedes even The Realm of The Gods and is ontologically superior to it in the same way that platonic forms are to the physical world (meaning that The Collective Unconsciousness would be 1-A as it is more "real" and ontologically superior to even The Realm of The Gods, which is already Low 1-A)
The Void[]
You'd think that The Realm of The Gods is the apex of the verse but it's just merely atop the multiverse, in actuality, there are places that exist outside of it and one of them is The Void. According to some information, The Void is actually nonexistence, as it's the complete opposite of Sana (who is the concept of "existence", including dimensionality and physics), implying that The Void is conceptually nonexistent and one who goes to the void will be erased from existence, which is something consistent with it's portrayal
Another interesting detail is that everything we see in the void isn't an accurate perception of it, with it's landscape appearing that way due to our limited comprehension of reality. It's the home residence of The Ancient Ones and also is said to be the home of Takodachi's, with their existence being made of The Void itself. Given that Hakos Baelz is supposed to be nonexistence {more specifically Chaos but in Hololive, Chaos is merely nonexistence}, it's likely she embodies this place and encompasses the multiverse too
It's also worth noting that within the beliefs of Carl Jung, the idea of "Chaos" was more akin to raw potentiality and was what "contained" or "held together" archetypes altogether. So this would definitely solidify that The Void is superior to even The Collective Unconsciousness and exists outside of it's scope, which also makes logical sense given The Void is entirely beyond human perception and understanding entirely, as to imply that it's more "real" than even our understanding and senses of reality
This means that The Void is 1-A as it exists beyond the entirety of the multiverse and encompasses it as well, which is further supported by the fact Hakos Baelz is stated to be unbounded by all things {including space and time} and the void is an extension of her. This would mean that void creatures are 1-A albeit still baseline considering they are treated as comparable to Moona Hoshinova and Hako Baelz is without a doubt above baseline 1-A as she's above even The Collective Unconsciousness in it's entirely in scope
"Creation"[]
In the context of Hololive, the term "Creation" basically refers to everything that exists in the verse and it's the accumulation of all that we know in the series at the current moment. Based on some statements from Laplace's Demon, everything we know in the verse is a "minuscule" aspect of the full scope of creation and this is rather interesting considering this implies that even locations such as The Collective Unconsciousness, The Void or even The Wahtcher's Realm that exists beyond the former two are still not even close to the full scope of all that exists
What's even more intriguing about this fact is that also according to Laplace's Demon, the creation in itself could be likened to a "piece of paper" with creation as we know it being merely a "picture" on that canvas. This analogy is important to take note of because it implicates that creation is so vast you can apply anything to it and yet everything is inaccessibly smaller than it's full scope, including 1-A realms such as the aforementioned The Collective Unconsciousness, The Void or even The Wahtcher's Realm. Basically this suggests that the difference between what exists within creation and creation's full scope is akin to that of an inaccessible cardinal, meaning that creation in it's scope is 1-A+ (or for other wiki, this would be considered High 1-A)
This idea that everything we know in creation being basically inaccessibly smaller is supported by Astel's analogy of creation being akin to a "computer", with everything in it being akin to files and creation itself being the "computer" in which any amount of files could be added to it but no file will ever be larger than the computer itself. So once more, this analogy just goes hand and hand with what Laplace's Demon said about creation, aka it solidifies that it's 1-A+ (High 1-A) without a shadow of doubt
"Kami"[]
This isn't exactly a location or anything but an entire entity that basically encapsulates the entire verse. I made a blog on Kami and what they are supposed to be within the confines of Hololive and I further elaborated on the nature of "Kami" through their connections with Carl Jung, which in the same blog we proved Hololive was clearly drawing from. Despite this, I feel going more in-depth here wouldn't hurt a bit. The basics is that "Kami" is supposed to be oneness and unity akin to a Monad within Gnoticism, essentially serving as a "stand-in" for "God" as described within Gnoticism. Even beings like Sana {who is the concept of existence, dimensionality and all that jazz} being one of the many unperfected divisions that came from Kami's wholeness
If it isn't obvious enough, everything in the verse is merely a division of "Kami" and were emanated from the "contractions" that in itself were divisions of Kami's Ein Sof. This means that in it's most basest state, creation is that of a unified existence in which all things are unified as a homogenous "one" {including concepts, individuals and the list goes on; Further supported by the fact that The Council were divisions of Kami despite being purely ideas with no true agency}. The bottom line is that Kami can be seen as a blank canvas or unified existence in which any amount of layers or levels of existence can be established yet is still inaccessibly below Kami, which we know is the case as even locations such as The Void as merely extensions of Kami's wholeness and beings such as The Gods being an imperfect division in relation to Kami's genuine infinity
For our wiki, which would mean that Kami would be 1-A+ and the same would likewise apply to Laplace's Demon, who was going to achieve this same state of existence (for other wiki, this is be separated as High 1-A and Tier 0 as opposed made as a singular tier like on our wiki; Kami and Laplace specifically would be High 1-A, possibly Tier 0 under said system). What I described above means that Kami and Laplace possess an inaccessibly superiority to the cosmology, including to dimensionless locations, of which are infinitely smaller divisions of the general whole that Kami/Laplace represents
Bare in mind, it's worth noting that Kami being "god" within the context of Gnoticism would allow one to argue that Kami possess apophatic nature, specifically in reference to Apopthatic Theology given the most basic elements of "God" in Gnoticism is that it's nature can't be described as it's Apophatic, something that seemingly is alluded to with examples such as La+ Darknesss reaching a state similar to them and becoming known as "Devil of ****"**" or simply known as "The (inexpressible) Devil" or how about when Omega was referring to the true nature of reality, it can't be described in any meaningful way (which we know refers to "Kami" as it's reality in it's most basest form and is genuine infinity, a wholeness in which all things contracted from). If we were to take this all at face value, it would mean that "Kami" and Laplace's Demon are 1-A+ without a shadow of a doubt (or Tier 0 for other sites)....But again, keep in mind this section is shaky and only the above is what's accepted on site
Crossover(s)[]
Hololive isn't alone when it comes to cosmology, as I mentioned here that Hololive shares the same realities as verses such as MCU, Disgaea, Azur Lane and Dawn of The Breakers. I mentioned in that blog that Hololive would basically be a different cosmology from these worlds but would share the same reality, meaning that if Sora wanted to travel to Disgaea, it would be possible but she'd have to get through from different means such as dimensional travel. I would elaborate further but I kinda already went in depth with that blog and I wanted to give crossovers their own section, considering that they are still a part of the cosmology despite not being exactly related to Hololive, simply being different cosmologies that exist in tandem with Hololive's own cosmology
It should be noted that this doesn't pertain to just other established verses but even other V-Tuber agencies as it's established that Nijisanji is apart of Hololive's verse and just recently we get the revelation that VShojo is another multiverse within Hololive's general reality. So yeah, Hololive truly is a melting pot of many different verses, even if they aren't exactly in the same pot but merely in the same house as the pot itself
Conclusions[]
Hololive's cosmology is pretty big and also expansive. Hopefully this at least clears some things up regarding it's world and it's size. I'm aware this isn't exactly every single world that exists in Hololive but I did at least cover the more important and consistently referenced things among it's expansive world. If those things are covered, then I consider this blog complete...Although I might add onto this whenever I feel like it
For those who are still confused, I decided to create a visualization of how Hololive's cosmology would look if it was "shown". Either way, I hope this blog serves as a good explanation for Hololive's cosmology
