Summary[]
Power Nullification, also known as Power Negation is the ability to nullify the abilities or general powers of others, completely negating or even removing their effects. How this occurs or what the user can nullify varies from series to series but the general idea behind the power is that it nullifies abilities, albeit sometimes users being limited to a certain type of power, specific supernatural phenomena or even things such as magic. Dependent on the user, these nullifications are temporary or permanent, alongside may also be restricted to a certain area of effect or even potentially things such as having to touch opponents for it to take in effect
This wiki treats Power Nullification relative to how it's portrayed in the series. This means that a character who has Power Nullification can only nullify things within their field (as in things that the nullification is stated or shown to work on) and is based on the strongest thing it's shown to nullify, meaning that it should be treated in threads similarly to how it's stated or shown to work in the series itself. This is done to prevent No Limits Fallacy arguments
Variations[]
- Power Modification: Some users can nullify one's abilities through modifying their powers altogether and preventing them from using it or it from doing the effects they naturally would do otherwise
- Power Mimicry: Some users of Power Mimicry can completely steal the powers of those who they mimic, thus completely nullifying their abilities altogether whilst also gaining the opponents powers in the process
- Power Absorption: Some users can nullify powers through the absorption of an opponents abilities
- Anti-Magic: A form of Power Nullification that focuses on nullifying magic or even potentially negating physical attributes amplified by by magic or creating a situation where the user can't be harmed by magic in general. This can range from negating simple spells to even potentially nullifying the magical properties of a person, object or location to make it fundamentally useless
Limitations[]
- The nullification effect on the opponent may be temporary and thus forcing the user to use their time wisely
- Users may be limited to the range in which the nullification takes effect (some users even needing to touch the opponent for it to work)
- Some users can only negate specific types of powers or phenomena
- Users potentially could have a limit in how many times they can nullify or how many powers it can negate at a given time
