Summary[]

Madness Manipulation is the ability alter one's state of mind, inducing a state of madness upon others. This involves causing one to become insane and losing all sense of proper thought and mannerisms. The methods of which this is inflicted can vary from character to character, being a biological cause or through mental abilities. In the end, all have the same goal, of which is the make one's mental state of being become defined as "insane"

Possible Uses[]

Madness Manipulation can be used to make opponents unable to think properly or fight as good as they could when they could think straight. Through becoming insane, their way of judgement becomes impaired and as such, this can be used to the user's advantage (assuming they are a calculated or intelligent user)

Types[]

Mental Madness: Users of this variant can cause others to go mad through altering their minds directly, utilizing mental attacks or abilities that eventually drives them mad due to the sheer amount of disturbances or stress inflicted on the mental psyche

  • Example: Monika (Doki Doki Literature Club), Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls), Mindflayers (Dungeons & Dragons)

Corruptive Madness: This version of Madness Manipulation can be caused as a result of others being corrupted, through being exposed to a source or being that causes their psyche to become impaired and as such, making them become mad

  • Example: Zero-Two (Kirby), The Overlord (Lego Ninjago), Ganondorf; Via Dark World (Legend of Zelda)

Biological Madness: This variant is caused through targeting parts of the brain, specifically parts that govern perception and how one view's the world around them. This method can be caused through certain chemicals or just tampering with the body in general (such as altering their brain or nerves)

  • Example: Scarecrow & Poison Ivy (DC Comics), Certain types of mushroom and planets (Real-Life)

Existential Madness: This variant involves users causing others to go mad just by existing, with the madness being caused innately due to their nature or complex existence. One who gazes upon them will end up going insane and usually the time it takes is instant, however for some users, it can take longer to drive an opponent mad. More extreme causes of this can end up causing those who view or perceive them to instantly die or kill themselves

  • Example: Various entities from Cthulhu Mythos/Bloodborne, The Dark Tower and The Crimson King (Dark Tower), The Fears (Fear Mythos), Various Demons (Shin Megami Tensei), The Warp and Daemon within it (Warhammer 40K)
