Character Synopsis
Bionis is a titan and is the organic counterpart to Mechonis, a mechanical lifeform meant to oppose Bionis. Before the start of Xenoblade Chronicles, Bionis fought in a tremendous battle with Mechonis. Both appeared to be equally matched, although Bionis did manage to injure Mechonis by cutting off its left arm. Eventually, both Bionis and Mechonis appear to die during the fight and end up locked in their final positions forever. It is later revealed in the game that they were not dead, just in an inactive state.
Mechonis is the mechanical counterpart to the Bionis, and home to the Mechon and the Machina. The Mechonis came into existence at the same instant as the Bionis; the creation of their universe. In the far distant past, Bionis attacked Mechonis with the aim of destroying it. They were locked in a "timeless battle" for eons, which ended in a draw when both titan's souls - the gods Meyneth and Zanza - used up too much energy and were forced to go into rest, awaiting the day that they would fight again. The Mechonis lost an arm and drove its sword into the Bionis' side. From then the two were still, presumed dead by their inhabitants.

Intelligence: Unknown, implied to be made with the intelligence that their original gods have, of which is Zanza and Meyneth retrospectively; Both of the gods, even before ascension, were some of the smartest beings in the multiverse and their ascension only granted them more intelligence among the multiverse.

Extra Info: It is noted that both Bionis and Mechonis are avatars of Zanza and Meyneth. However, lore portrays them as being separate entities from one another despite this, with Meyneth having to place her soul in Mechonis to control it.
