~ Egyptian prayer to Anubis

Character Synopsis[]

Anubis, also known under names such as Inpu, Inpw, Jnpw, and Anpu, is the Egyptian God of Cemeteries & Mummification. He is the son of Nephthys and Osiris (although some stories portray him as the son of Set), with Anubis being abandoned in the wilderness until discovered by Isis with the help of jackals. She would raise Anubis and in turn, he would become very protective of her and Osiris, even helping her find all the pieces of Osiris. After having found all the pieces, it's here where Anubis invented the art of embalming and mummification so that his father could live again and reign in the world of the dead.

Character Statistics[]

Tiering: 2-C

Name: Anubis (also referred to as "Inpu", "Inpw", "Jnpw", or "Anpu"); In actuality, Anubis had countless names and surnames that he underwent depending on the circumstance

Gender: Male

Age: Thousands of Years (Anubis has been around for this long, having rules over The Underworld for at least thousands of years, if not longer over the course of The Egyptian Empire's reign)

Classification: God of Cemeteries & Mummification, "Lord of The Sacred Land", "He Who Is Upon The Mountain", Ruler of The Underworld, Protector of Graves

Special Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Flight (Egyptian Gods such as Ra and Apep were capable of moving in the primordial void before there was land, suggesting that Egyptian Gods are capable of natural flight), Abstract Existence, Non-Corporeal (Egyptian Gods existed as the embodiment of natural phenomena, with Anubis embodying the concepts of cemeteries and the process of mummification), Soul Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Willpower Manipulation, Life-Force Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation, Fate Manipulation, Information Manipulation (Anubis has the ability to "guide" souls across The Underworld and can weigh them. Egyptian Gods has knowledge over and can control or even destroy the "Names" or "Ren" of individuals; The Egyptians believed that The Soul contained components that included thought, emotions, willpower, life energy, the very concept of one's existence, their heart, their shadow, their outcomes/destiny and spiritual body), Death Manipulation (Anubis has control over mummification and is capable of bringing about death through it's process), Sealing (Through mummification, Anubis can seal one's soul within The Underworld and force their bodies to serve as anchors for their spirit), Animal Manipulation (He is associated with jackals and has the power to draw canines away from the graves of dead bodies), Avatar Creation (Egyptian Gods were capable of creating avatars of themselves whilst his true form resides within The A'aru), Non-Physical Interaction (Can physically carry the souls of the dead on his boat across The Underworld), Immortality (Type 1, 5 & 9; Egyptian Gods are unable to age in a conventional sense. Egyptian Gods can freely exist within The Underworld in spite of only the dead being able to enter, suggesting Egyptian Gods are unbound by conventional death as a concept. The true forms of The Gods exist in The A'aru), Acausality (Non-Linearity; Egyptian Gods exist as a natural part of The A'aru, where time doesn't flow the same as the living world, where time in The A'aru is merely a moment of eternity), Nigh-Omnipresence (Exists as the embodiment of cemeteries and the process of mummification across Egyptian Cosmogony, minus The A'aru)

All Egpytian Gods have access to Heka, a fundamental element of the universe, which grants users the following powers: Magic (Heka is a magical source of energy that underlies the entirety of The Egyptian Cosmogony), Energy Manipulation (Heka is often described as an energy and manifests itself as a physical medium such as energy flow), Law Manipulation (Heka was believed to be harnessing the natural laws of reality and manipulating them to the users whim), Ki Manipulation (The act of using Heka also involved manipulation of one's "Ka", the vital energy and "inner life" of one's Soul), Life Manipulation (Heka can be used to create life from nothingness, as showcased with Ra creating life), Creation (Heka can be used to create things, with it being used by Ra to create both himself and the every world of Egyptian Mythology as a whole), Soul Manipulation (Through Heka, Ra was able to create the souls of beings, with Heka encompassing even The Soul and one's own spiritual body known as Sahu), Conceptual Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Willpower Manipulation, Life-Force Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation, Fate Manipulation, Information Manipulation (The Egyptians believed that The Soul contained components that included thought, emotions, willpower, life energy, the very concept of one's existence, their heart, their shadow, their outcomes/destiny and spiritual body), Non-Physical Interaction (Heka can interact with and encompasses all elements of the universe, including things such as The Soul and other immaterial things such as it's laws, it's concepts and all things that define The Egyptian Mythology cosmology), Negation (Heka is capable of negating things such as regeneration and immortality, as Apophis's ability to permanently kill Ra {and a god's ability to kill each another god} is often attributed to that of Heka), Conceptual Existence Erasure & History Manipulation (Heka can be used to learn about one's true "Name", with one's name being the very essence that makes up one's component of being, including The Soul and the act of erasing one's name will remove their existence from across all of history)

Egyptian Gods have extreme resistance to Heka, giving them resistance to the following: Magic, Law Manipulation, Ki Manipulation, Life Manipulation, Creation, Soul Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Willpower Manipulation, Life-Force Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation, Fate Manipulation, Information Manipulation, Non-Physical Interaction, Negation, Conceptual Existence Erasure & History Manipulation (Gods and Goddesses are capable of tanking attacks from one another, which are comprised of Heka, which have the aforementioned abilities are innate parts of it's "essence". Neferkaptah, after having gained the powers of the gods, was unable to harm Ra or Thoth due to inferior levels of Heka, implying that one must have comparable levels to even harm another god or goddess in Egyptian Mythology)

Destructive Ability: Multi-Universe Level (Anubis is capable of fighting against Set in various confrontations, with one fight leading to the subdue of Set and the branding of his skin, of which Anubis flayed off. This would mean that Anubis is superior to Apep, whom of which Set is capable of stopping consistently every time he attacks Ra during his journey to Osiris)

Speed: Infinite (Capable of keeping up with Set, whom of which is capable of intercepting attacks from Apep and Horus, whom of which are treated as being in the same league as Ra). Nigh-Omnipresent in non-physical state (Egyptian Gods in their true forms are nothing more than natural phenomena that influence the world and shape the influences of The Egyptians, with Anubis being the embodiment of cemeteries and the process of mummification)

Lifting Ability: Infinite (Anubis is capable of subduing Set, who can physically push back Apep, who is capable of physically consuming Ra and preventing him from escaping; Ra is comparable to his children, such as Shu, who was tasked with keeping Nut and Geb apart for "eternity" by pushing back Nut from ever making contact with Geb, with Nut being the infinite cosmos that encompasses the universe)

Striking Ability: Multi-Universal (Subdued Set and branded his skin, eventually flaying his skin off entirely and wearing it as a disguise, also making Anubis physically superior to the likes of Apep, who can return all of the Egyptian Cosmogony back into the undifferentiated, endless void that it was prior to Ra's light, including destroying the infinite sized living universe and two other separate infinitely sized space-time continuums, such as The Duat and The A'aru)

Durability: Multi-Universe Level (Capable of tanking attacks from the likes of Set, whom of which can harm the likes of Apep despite his ability to return all of the Egyptian Cosmogony back into the undifferentiated, endless void)

Stamina: Limitless (Egyptian Gods didn't need to rest, eat and sleep in the same way that mortals did)

Range: Extended Melee Range normally, up to Multi-Universal with Heka Manipulation (Users of Heka are capable of effecting it on the scale of the entire cosmogony, as Heka exists as a force that pervades all aspects of creation, underpinning even realms such as The Duat and The A'aru as the fundamental element that holds all things together and balances reality perfectly)

Intelligence: Very High (Anubis oversaw all passing souls, deciding their worth of entering the afterlife and also being able to witness all that occurs within The Underworld's confines. Anubis is portrayed as comparable to, if not superior than Set when it comes to physical combat, the same god who lead countless wars over the course of The Egyptian Empire's reign)

Weaknesses: None Notable

Extra Info[]

Note 1: This page is strictly talking about Egyptian Mythology Ra, as he is in the original myths and thus this page will not be accounting for things such as the other interpretations of classical Egyptian Mythology that came after the fact. Despite this, this page is also treated various Egyptian Myths as a "singular" canon that all connect to one another, even if they were initially isolated tales that weren't meant to have any true continuity between each other

Note 2: As mentioned before, Egyptian Mythology was never meant to be seen as a canon in the way we understand it today, with the stories all having consistent elements between one another but fundamentally being just isolated tales. So for this reason, contradictions and conflicts will be ignored in favor of what is most consistently agreed upon within the myths and by The Egyptians at the time

Note 3: Egyptian Mythology and it's cosmology is largely influenced by The Egyptians at the time and the whole point of Mythology to begin with is to describe the world around you, meaning that beliefs that were common at the time for The Egyptians can be applied to Egyptian Mythology on the basis that those beliefs would have bled into the Mythology and been reflective of what was thought to be true at the time

Note 4: Egyptian Mythology and many of it's stories are derived from visual storytelling and as such, it doesn't have many stories that one can read up on it as opposed to just information that stem from what has been discovered about The Egyptians and what is agreed upon by scholars on the topic to be what their general beliefs were in terms of cosmology and about the gods they worshipped
